Dear Applicant:
Thank you for pursuing this scholarship! We are excited to select the best and brightest students interested in engaging in their communities and schools to make Florida the best state it can be.
After Randy Roberts’ untimely death in early 2009, a group of family and friends worked to form a foundation representative of Randy’s commitment to positively impact all those around him especially youth. With that in mind, the Board of Directors determined that our initial focus would be to provide scholarships to high school seniors in Florida. Selected students should excel in public service and are interested in being good citizens in their schools and communities.
As a Board, we also decided that Randy’s commitment to people was sincere, interested and encouraging over time. He valued others and wanted to always go beyond simply networking, he asked the next question to truly get to know someone. To that end, we decided our scholarships would be more than a one time transaction.
In an effort to fulfill the mission of cultivating leaders, the Board also decided that getting to know our scholars personally and helping them fulfill their own goals was vital. Therefore, selected students will meet with the foundation throughout the academic year. These meetings are to mentor the scholarship recipients in helping them build leadership skills and make contacts in various areas of their own interests. These mentor opportunities could potentially lead to internships and careers after college.
Each scholar begins with a specific amount their freshman year that may increase annually over the course of their undergraduate study. This can occur if they choose to engage with the foundation regularly and commit to working in Florida after graduation. This may total more than $5,000 over the four years.
If you are truly interested in becoming a part of our mission to cultivate Florida’s future leaders, please take time in submitting this application. If selected as a finalist, you may be contacted for an interview with our scholarship committee.
The deadline to apply is February 15 at 11:59PM. Scholarship winners will be notified in late May. Thank you for your interest and good luck!
