The purpose of the Randy Roberts Foundation Congressional Classroom program is to educate and engage high school students in democracy and to foster an interest in public service. Students who are selected after participating in Community Classroom and Capital Classroom, will visit our nation’s Capitol for an inside view of the democratic process. Each year, these high school seniors will be provided with opportunities to witness our government in action, meet with officials and tour points of interest throughout Washington, DC.

Program Overview

Selected students embark on an unforgettable journey to Washington, D.C. in the fall of their senior year, departing on a Saturday morning and returning the following Wednesday evening. This five-day trip offers a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of government and foster personal growth. The weekend includes sightseeing around the Capitol and the start of an engaging Mock Congress module. During the week, students meet with members of Congress, visit various executive agencies, hear from influential figures in politics, and connect with professionals involved in the governmental process. The trip highlights all three branches of government and delves into United States history, creating an enriching and memorable experience.

Since 2011, when the Randy Roberts Foundation assumed the direction of the program, trips have included up to 17 students and 4 chaperones. Over the years, this program has been provided to more than 100 students. All expenses are paid for through the Randy Roberts Foundation and their generous donors.
